Boudoir Make Up

What is Sexiness Really About?

What is Sexiness Really About?

Dallas Boudoir Photography (17).png

Sexiness is all about your personality, being genuine, confident, and being a good person.

One of the most naturally sexy people I know is Ms. A. This outdoor boudoir photoshoot was extremely important for Ms. A and me to create together.

We took a situation that was bad and made it work. The truth is, I booked a makeup artist for this shoot. The makeup artist was supposed to arrive at 5:30AM... and he did, but he left because I overslept. I didn't wake up until 6AM. While Ms. A stayed around, he did not. Personally, I don't blame him.

In the interim of trying to rework this shoot, we found an even better concept that lied within it. This is why I always say when things don't go your way something better is about to come. God's Plan is a real concept, and I felt that this series personified that. Instead of completely nixing the idea because the makeup artist left (and would not return my calls... I laugh now), Ms. A suggested that she do the whole story without any makeup.

Dallas Boudoir Photography (4).png

Why? She wanted to prove that women could be powerful, desirable, and beautiful without having to wear makeup. Ms. A had just recently given birth and she wanted to show that confident sexiness is created from within. Makeup should be used to enhance who we are, not veil it. Regardless if makeup is used or not, your natural sexiness and feminity will come through if you truly embrace and own your self-worth.

Dallas Boudoir Photography (20).png

Therein lies the beauty of working with secure and confident women. In each one of these pictures, you can clearly see that Ms. A is extremely comfortable with who she is. Makeup, men, social media... none of that defines who she is or what she does.

I wish I could sprinkle her confidence on everybody that I shoot with. The world would be better off with women who validate their own beauty. There is no need for anyone to cosign who you are when you truly love the woman that you created.

Dallas Boudoir Photography (22).png

Makeup is awesome... Don't get me wrong... but you shouldn't have to feel, as a woman, that you HAVE to wear makeup to be accepted. Makeup is a tool designed to enhance the beauty that is already there.

Be who you are.

You are built to be incredible.

Anyone who tells you differently

can go fuck themselves.

Dallas Boudoir Photography (1).png

Major shoutouts to Ms. A. She merc'd this session! She got up at 5 a.m. on December 31st in cold as fuck weather to play around in lingerie before anyone in Downtown Dallas woke up. I always work with the best people either on the 31st of December or January 1st because that's how I want my year to start. Ms. A through the session showed me that 2018 was going to be about breaking the mold and challenging the status quo. Ms. A showed me through her ideas, action, spirit, and her work ethic, that in order to break out one must be different. Everyone needs an Alina in their life. Thank you woman!

Love,

Korin

The Girl Next Door Turns Vixen| Dallas Boudoir Photography

The Girl Next Door Turns Vixen, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Wonderland Boudoir

I haven't shot in a studio in quite some time.  While I love the idea of having a constant place to go, shoot, and call my boudoir home.  I have to admit that I do love shooting on location because my photos, work, and brain power will never go stale because each image for each client will look drastically different.

However, if I were to ever pick a client's place that I could shoot in every single day of my boudoir career I would be Ms. N's.  She had an atrium, nice concrete floors, powerful soft light, and this incredible blue studded and tufted jewel couch that was to LIVE for.  You know what else I loved about her place?  It was luxurious but minimalistic.  I know, what a juxtaposition!  (I'm going to be honest, I just wanted to use that word).

As I say in just about every other blog post, you have to match your style to your settings.  This is how you get those drool-worthy Pinterest boudoir photos that every woman yearns for.

Since the settings were very minimalistic we decided to have the outfits, hair, makeup, and posing standout and play the power forward position in the photos.

Dominque Dai is one of my favorite hairstylist in Dallas.  She is one of the most versatile and professional hair care specialists in the city.  For Ms. N photos I wanted to go simple, girl next door glam.  We went for a very loose french braid look with a curl end.  This worked perfectly with her ombre colored hair.

Jazzy is my right-hand man.  He went in for the kill for the beautifully executed softly dark makeup look.  I know, what the hell is a dark soft?!  Well, the lips were a dark glistening pink and the contour was dark, but not heavy.  Jazzy loves to go for editorial drama in his looks.   Let's not forget about that highlight though!

Ms. N gave us free range and we were able to have her as our fun little canvas!

The Girl Next Door

In look one we decided to go with a gray oversized sweater.  Sweaters are my thing.  We shot Kryssi on a black sweater the other day and now we are shooting Ms. N in this sexy gray number.  She had always wanted to wear this piece but could never find anything to match with it.  Therefore she was excited to wear it for our session.

In most sessions, the more simple a look is the more powerful the image becomes.  Therefore, all we really needed was her couch as the statement piece.  Can you believe she found this tufted jeweled couch on the side of the road driving on Harry Hines in Dallas?!

The Vixen

Ms. N is a juggernaut of beauty!  Besides her gorgeous place, another thing Ms. N had going was the fact that she had racks on racks on racks of lingerie!  In fact, shortly after our session she reached out to me and gave me ALL her lingerie because she was moving across seas and could not take the items with her.  So I have soooooooooo much new lingerie that I haven't even shown off yet.  Judging by these pieces you know they are good!  LOL!

For her second look we decided to show off her assets while not needing to bare them all.  You can tell that Ms. N has a body and attitude that could take down foreign leaders.  So we styled her in a bodysuit that had a really sexy ribbon tied front.  We did this because, while we know her frame is sexy, it still leads a lot to the imagination.  The toasted peach color of her Victoria's Secret bodysuit was perfect for our boudoir setting as we shot these in her atrium.  Dominique just undid the french braid which caused the beautiful shape and volume of her hair.  Jazzy just darken the look a tad to give her more of a vampy vixen vibe.  (How did you like the use of all those V words?)

I had SUCH a blast shooting Ms. N.  She is such a damn doll!  I couldn't have asked for a better client, with a badass lingerie wardrobe, in the most perfect home for boudoir!

Let me know in the comment section below which boudoir look you like the best?  Personally, I really like them both!

The Hottest Look on a Warm Winter Day | Dallas Boudoir Photography

Dallas Boudoir

It's 70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and we are just strolling the streets of Dallas in a black sheer silk midi skirt on a Sunday afternoon in January.

The life of an editorial boudoir photographer.

Yes, this how I typically spend my Sundays, shooting beautifully designed lingerie on gorgeous women.

We actually shot this set on January 3rd, a day after my birthday.

This perfect day produced some of the most beautiful photos have I have taken so far this year (considering it was day 3 at the time. LOL).

Dallas Boudoir, Boudoir, Boudoir Dallas, Black and White Boudoir

On this unusually warm January day Celina, Jazzy, and I took to the the streets of Dallas and hit up the least likely places that anyone would find us, a grungy alley and a forgotten about parking garage.  You must find beauty anywhere.

BOUDOIR IN AN ALLEY

Dallas Boudoir, Dallas Boudoir, Boudoir, Boudoir Dallas, Black and White Boudoir

Our first stop was a tiny alley between two Dallas staple restaurants.  I wanted to shoot in a place that was super dark and moody.  We originally planned to sneak into a building in the West End District that housed this beautiful 20’s style elevator… but they closed down that building for the weekend.  Good thing Celina shot in this area before and remembered this particular alley from years prior. We squeezed between the cracks of two buildings to shoot some of the best dark and moody images I have done in a very long time.

Dallas Boudoir, Dallas Boudoir, Boudoir, Boudoir Dallas, Black and White Boudoir

We thought were were being so sneaky and clever shooting in this alley.

Keyword was thought.

Turns out the owner of one of the adjacent restaurants put a camera up in that back of his building.  He came out to tell us about it and how he typically keeps the gate locked but forgot that day.   But he gave us permission to continue shooting.  I guess he saw a beautiful woman in lingerie, a girl with a camera, and a fabulous makeup artist and assumed that we would be no threat.  He could have been a total jerk about the whole thing with good reason, but he was so cool.

We only shot for about 15 minutes in that super narrow alley.  Honestly it was probably only 2 feet wide, if that.  But it was surprisingly super clean and didn't smell at all.

I love how the cast of the old stone reflected a moody rainbow on Celina's body.  The whole thing was dank, dark, and beautiful.

I admire the juxtaposition of such a beautiful outfit against a worn down background really made Celina pop.

DANCING ON ROOFTOPS IN DOWNTOWN DALLAS

Next we headed to an empty parking garage in the middle of Downtown Dallas.  Celina brought this BEAUTIFUL black sheer bodysuit for this part of the session. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE a good bodysuit.  There is just something so understated and sexy about them.

Dallas Boudoir, Statler Hotel Dallas, Boudoir Dallas, Boudoir, Black and White Boudoir, Outdoor Boudoir

Celina also brought along a black lace rabbit ear mask.  If you guys remember about a year ago I shot in another lace rabbit mask.  There is just something about the whole rabbit year thing that I love.  (hence the logo)..

I posed Celina in a lot of power poses because the city of Dallas is such a strong background and we needed Celina to express that as well.

One of my favorite shots is Celina standing in front of the Statler Hotel. They are rebuilding and reoccupying this iconic building later this fall.

While Celina and the City of Dallas play such strong characters in this photo story it has to be mentioned that Jazzy did an amazing job softening up the look a bit by doing a bold yet soft eye.  Blue is the color he wanted to play with because the sky was so clear and he wanted the look to pop against Celina's eyes.

HONESTLY...

I am so in love with how amazing these photos turned out.  Especially since we shot in the dead of day.  In photographer world that is a major no no.  However this year I decided that I am going to throw caution to the wind and shoot in all the ways we are told not too.  I am so tired of following the rules because the people who have made history are the ones who changed it.  I’m going against the grain.

Can we talk about how BEAUTIFUL Celina looked against the Indigo Hotel for minute?  Yes ma’am!  That is ALL her!  I’m sure the guest of the hotel has a blast watching us shoot her  in such a beautiful location.

I mean CHECK out this video we made.  Can we say love?

We Found Boudoir in a Hopeless Place | Dallas Boudoir Photography

Dallas Boudoir Photography, Wonderland Boudoir, Boudoir Dallas

Alexis is one of my favorite people in the world.  She is a fashion stylist and model who recently relocated to New York City for work and love.  She came back to Dallas in late December to visit family and friends for the holidays. While in town she requested that I shoot some photos of her for her new blog, Lone Star in the City.  Since Alexis is amazing I couldn’t say no to her!

WHAT HAD HAPPEN WAS...

If you guys weren’t aware on December 26, 2016 major tornadoes hit the North Texas area demolishing blocks and blocks of neighborhoods while many people lost their lives.

Boudoir Dallas, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Wonderland Boudoir

Yeah, we were shooting on that day.  In fact this was supposed to be a twilight boudoir session over the city of Dallas.  However, due to turbulent and unpredictable weather we brought the boudoir session inside of my building.

Yes, these shots took place in the stairwell of my building!  I love how the moody emptiness is also an unspoken and unseen character in these photos.  These photos emphasize her adult allure and sexiness.  .

Check out this video we made with Alexis.  It’s crazy how just the most simplistic of places can spark the most incredible settings.

THE BOUDOIR OUTFIT BREAKDOWN

Boudoir Dallas, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Wonderland Boudoir

BOUDOIR OUTFIT

This whole outfit came from Victoria’s Secret.  I just adore gold hardware and exposed zippers.  I feel like exposed zippers are a node to vintage quality and craftsmanship.   This exposed zipper on this corset top proved to elevate the game of sexiness when it comes to seductive designs.

The matching panties to this set were so incredibly tantalizing.  Too bad they are no longer on sale.  It’s so hard to find geometric cut outs on panties, and these were perfect for that.

The skirt was my FAVORITE part of this whole look.  First of all who doesn’t love silk?  Only crazy people.  There is just SOMETHING about silk that makes you feel instantly high class, sophisticated, and sexy.  Turn that into a tulle maxi skirt and you are asking for any woman to bring out their innermost Upper East side sexiness.

BOUDOIR HAIR

The hair was just simple.  I wanted to do a high poofy and messy bun that sat on the top of her head, but because the outfit was so slick and Spanish inspired we opted for the more for a sleek look to embrace the aura of the feel.

Later in our session I asked Alexis to take her hair down because it was "too" perfect (if you notice in my photos I have a thing for messy-sex-in-the-morning hair.  I wanted to something more grunge, real, and could evoke an emotion of relaxed power and longing.

We leveraged Alexis hair as an element of storytelling.  Look how well Alexis brings in her hair to help elevate the allure of the photos.

BOUDOIR MAKEUP

There is a reason they refer to Jazzy as the King.  He knows what he’s going.  I love how he took a chance by placing a bold red lip on a woman of such a dark complexion.  He helped add drama to the overall look by creating an intense smokey eye look.  Doing this created a sense of mysterious coy power.

This couldn’t have been more fitting for such a crazy night.

Ace Your Boudoir Makeup

Dallas Boudoir Photography, Dallas Makeup Artist

Boudoir makeup is a key element in the quest for beautiful and timeless photos.  Today we are interviewing Dallas Makeup artist Jazzy Baptiste on some of the key elements of boudoir makeup women need to keep in mind when planning for their session.

About Jazzy Baptiste

Jazzy is a published makeup artist that has some worked with Elle magazine and Blitz Weekly.  You may have seen him on Good Morning Dallas showing off his skill.  He was born in the Port of Spain, the capital of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.  He moved to the states at the age of 5 with his mother.  Jazzy fell in love with makeup after leading the production side of theater back in High School.  Some of his favorite brands include Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, Ardell lashes, Two Face, and Anastasia eyebrows.

Basic Principles of Makeup

People confuse makeup with hiding when it should be about letting your true beauty shine through.  “I’m not changing your look.  I’m enhancing what you already have.”

Dallas Boudoir, Jazzy Baptiste, Dallas Makeup Artist, Darkskin

Holy Grail Makeup Items

Jazzy believes in the ceiling to the floor method.  He states that, “Good skin care goes hand in hand with a good makeup application.”  After great facial care then you should make sure you have a good foundation and primer.  After that a great powder or tinted moisturizer should set your face.  If you only have 15 minutes to get ready then a good face is better than a bare face and lavish eye makeup.  “If your skin looks great. Your moisturizer looks great. Your skin will look pretty.”

Elements of Boudoir Makeup

Dallas Boudoir, Jazzy Baptiste, Dallas Makeup Artist, Darkskin

When picking a makeup look… or a series of looks… it’s best to choose a look that best represents you.  The best way to ensure the best face on this important day is to hire a professional makeup artist.  Hiring a professional makeup artist is ideal because they are going to know the best color, shade, and range for your boudoir session.

Makeup Trends or Nah?

This really depends on the woman in question.  Women more mature in years often opt to have a more classic look while younger women choose to be more trendy when it comes to boudoir.  However, you can rock classic looks with a modern influence.  Jazzy does an amazing job of working both sides of this line for a unique makeup application that will work best for you.

How to Find the Perfect Makeup Artist?

Finding the perfect makeup artist can seem like a very daunting task, but it will be well worth it.  If you are looking for a makeup artist you can use Google, but a better way is to get on Instagram and #(YourCityName)MakeupArtist or #(YourCity)MUA.  For example, if you live in Austin, Texas then you would search Instagram’s hashtags using the following: #AustinMakeupArtist, #ATXMakeupArtist, #AustinMUA, or #ATXMUA.

1.) Review their social media accounts and not only look for style look for quality of work.  Search for women who have the same skin type and complexion as you.  Also see if they have any professional photos on their page, not just selfies and before and after pictures.  You need to be able to see if their makeup will translate well in professional photos.

2.) Check a makeup artist references.  While they may have impeccable work some makeup artist are NOTORIOUS for being no shows or the photographer having to fix a lot of their work in post.  Message the girls in their photos or send a message to the photographer if they are tagged in any professional work.  Don’t be embarrassed to do so.  It’s called doing your due diligence because boudoir is an investment and you want to be able to love your photos forever and not be disappointed in the end result.

3.) Pay for a Makeup Trial Run.  Paying for a makeup trial run isn’t just for wedding photography it’s for boudoir as well.  If you are not going with a makeup artist that is recommended by the actual boudoir photographer then you REALLY need to make sure the artist you personally choose will be able to get the makeup look that you want for your photos. This will allow you to speak about any changes that you need without anything being a surprise on your actually boudoir date.

Dallas Boudoir, Jazzy Baptiste, Dallas Makeup Artist, Darkskin
Dallas Boudoir, Jazzy Baptiste, Dallas Makeup Artist, Darkskin
Dallas Boudoir, Jazzy Baptiste, Dallas Makeup Artist, Darkskin

Can’t I just do my own makeup?

Unless you are an artist yourself or a makeup enthusiast then your everyday makeup look will not work for boudoir photography.  High quality and photocentric makeup is what is needed for your big day.  This type of makeup has been specially formulated for professional shoots.  These makeup applications need to be placed on in a professional manner as well.

With everything that you have to prepare for when it comes to a boudoir session hair and makeup should not be one of them. This is your time before your session to just relax and let the hair and makeup team pamper you before your session.  “Make it easy on yourself. You just want to be memorable.  You want to make it an experience so don’t put so much stress on yourself” states Jazzy.

How should a woman prepare of a professional makeup session?

  1. Be Well Rested
  2. Don’t Drink the Night Before Your Shoot
  3. Get a Facial (optional)
  4. Get your Eyebrows Professional  Done (at least 3 days before your session)
  5. Don’t come to your session with Makeup On

Favorite Makeup YouTubers

Jazzy has a long list of his favorite makeup YouTubers.  Make sure you watch the video or listen to the podcast to get the full list, but some of the most notable is Beauty by JJ, Jackie Aina, Lyric Rochester, Makeup Doll, and Sonjdra Deluxe.

Favorite Celebrity Makeup Artist

The Pat McGrath and Sam Fine.  These two are living makeup legends.  Honestly, any makeup artist who really appreciates the craft should be well aware of who these two people are.  Even your photographer should know the work of these two artist.  If your makeup artist has not idea who Pat McGrath is then i wholeheartedly suggest that you keep looking for another makeup artist for your wedding our boudoir day.

Moroccan Boudoir in Dallas, Texas

Moroccan Style Boudoir Session in Dallas Texas, Wonderland Boudoir

There are a ton of great boudoir studios in Dallas that have the traditional beds, but how about making your boudoir session really stand out?  How about something a tad bit international?   Today we are going to bring Morocco right to Dallas!  Yes, we have a Moroccan Boudoir set!

Morocco is a beautiful country in North Africa.  If all goes well I will be visiting this colorful country in 2016. When I do I plan on bringing back more blankets, sheets, and other items to make this set look as authentic as possible.

Morroccan Boudoir Session, Dallas Texas, Wonderland Boudoir

This set was inspired by my love for strong color.  Boudoir sessions have a tendency to look very black and white with a splash of red pinched in.  This set is for the colorful, dynamic, and non traditional woman. With the Moroccan set we want to provide a really relaxed atmosphere that can still to be really sexy.  We love effortless sexy and that’s what this set provides. If you’re looking to give your boudoir session a bit of flair the Moroccan set would be best for you!

In a previous post we really broke down Karla’s outfit, hair, and makeup to a science.  If you want to see all the details of Karla’s look please check out our How to Style a Bridal Boudoir Session.

Jill from #Glambition did the hair and makeup.  Alexis K Coats styled this amazing session with  clothes provided by Apricot Lane of Dallas.  Most of the furniture here came from Pier 1.

Not only is the set relaxing so is Karla’s style. In her first looks she’s rocking a bikini top from Apricot Lane of Dallas.  Instead of the typical panty or bikini bottle Alexis opted to layer her in a series of scarves. This provided a sense of texture, fun pops of color, and overall more interesting photos.  Not only do the your boudoir  photos need to look sexy, but they have to really stand out.

Morroccan Boudoir Session, Dallas Texas, Wonderland Boudoir

The hair added a dynamic point of interest to Karla’s Moroccan boudoir set.  While there is nothing wrong with with full voluptuous curly hair I have to say that I LOVE the short futuristic side bob that Jill designed for Karla.  Again, it brings interest and texture in such a unique setting.

If you want to get more details on Karla’s set or any of the three other women we shot please make sure you check out your post on How to Style a Bridal Boudoir Session.  Also, Karla is in a competition of Dallas’s top models.  Please go vote for Karla HERE!

How to Style a Bridal Boudoir Session, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Boudoir Photography Dallas, Wedding Boudoir, Style, Fashion

Wonderland Boudoir is a Boudoir Photography studio in Dallas, Texas and we believe bridal boudoir is an excellent wedding gift for your future spouse.  Today we are going to show you a number of excellent outfits that would be great for your bridal boudoir session.  Later this month you will be able to see more photos of each woman’s session!

Most of these pieces can be found at Apricot Lane of Dallas.  The wedding dress can be found on SimplyBridal.com.  The lingerie on Ciarra can be found at Victoria’s Secrets.  All these pieces are great for a summer bridal session.  They are light, airy, and sexy.

Ciarra

How to Style a Bridal Boudoir Session, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Boudoir Photography Dallas, Wedding Boudoir, Style, Fashion

If you guys watched Wednesdays’s boudoir bridal video then you will remember Ciarra.  Ciarra did an amazing job in the videos.  For Ciarra we went for light, airy, and fun.

Wedding Dress: The Wedding Dress was provided by Simply Bridal.  It’s the Lianne gown.  This is a beautiful summer gown.  The halter allows the bride to be comfortable and not over heat in an outside summer wedding. The material of the dress is chiffon.   The silver band around the waist is beautiful as it glistens against the sunlight bringing all the attention back to the bride.  The train is full and dramatic.  This Grecian inspired gown will having you feeling like a Greek Goddess as you walk down the aisle.

Shoes: The Simply Bridal wedding dress is so dramatic we decided to have Ciarra rock nude strappy heels and a bit of bling on the toes and ankles.

Accessories: Since the dress is a halter we kept it very simple with the jewelry pieces.  We decided to go with dramatic chandelier earrings that were more on the nude and pastel side.  On her fingers Ciarra rocked her engagement ring.

Makeup & Hair: It’s so rare that I get to work with women who have short pixie cuts. I have to say that Ciarra’s haircut really worked with the dress and outfit.  Jill, the makeup artist, added a long bang to the front that shaped her head.  The lips are a pouty nude pink color and the eyes are a pastel smoky eye that really brings out her blue eyes.

Wedding Boudoir Look

How to Style a Bridal Boudoir Session, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Boudoir Photography Dallas, Wedding Boudoir, Style, Fashion

Lingerie & Kimono: The lingerie for this shot was from Victoria’s Secret .  The pastel blue works for Ciarra’s fair skin and adds that element of “something blue.” With the soft light coming into the studio it really adds a taste of timeless beauty.

The kimono was from Apricot Love of Dallas.  A kimono is a perfect way of looking sexy while still covering up.  The nude kimono and beautiful botanical flowers really highlights Ciarra’s skin, accessories, and make up.

The color palate here was pastel pink, pastel blue, and gold.  This is beautiful combination for a summer boudoir session.

Jenna

How to Style a Bridal Boudoir Session, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Boudoir Photography Dallas, Wedding Boudoir, Style, Fashion

We went at little more Boho with Jenna.  Summer is a great time to be free and comfortable.  Alexis styled Jenna in a long white lace maxi dress and a black kimono with cream detailing.

Dress & Kimono:  Both the dress and kimono are compliments of Apricot Lane Dallas.  The dress is beautiful and has a long split that allows Jenna’s right knee to peek through.  The kimono is roomy and sits comfortably off her shoulders.

Accessories:  Alexis decided to stack the accessories and did an excellent job doing so.  She arranged the necklaces by chain length. This not only helps highlight each piece but allows them not to tangle.  The long necklace has a bit of dramatic flair and amps up the boho realness of the outfit.  The crystal pendent adds a pinch of Gypsy.

Let’s talk about those bangles though!  I am one who LOVES rock jewelry. I love the way that Alexis stacked the bangles on Jenna’s arm.  Again, a fun way to add texture to such a low key outfit.

We can’t see them in this photo, but Jenna rocked a pair of starburst stud earrings.

Hair & Makeup: Jill decided to be a little more playful with this outfit.  Adding the dark mascara really made Jenna’s sky blue eyes pop (and yes, those are her REAL lashes, I know JEALOUS).  Jill gave Jenna gold lipstick and, like Ciarra, kept her makeup simple on the face.

Second Outfit

How to Style a Bridal Boudoir Session, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Boudoir Photography Dallas, Wedding Boudoir, Style, Fashion

All the accessories and makeup stayed the same.  The only thing that changed was the way Alexis styled Jenna in a nude lingerie set.  There isn’t any padding and since the nude matches her skin it makes the look even more sexy because it adds an idea of implied nudity without actually getting naked or posing without clothes.

Karla

How to Style a Bridal Boudoir Session, Dallas Boudoir Photography, Boudoir Photography Dallas, Wedding Boudoir, Style, Fashion

For Karla we went for a Moroccan inspired look.  Her beautiful complexion allows us to be really playful with color and style.

Outfit: For the top we used a swimsuit top. YES!  Swimsuits make excellent pieces for boudoir.  Swimsuits are often overlooked because people associate them with water and not the bedroom.  That’s a mistake because there are plenty of cute swimsuits that would be great for a boudoir sessions.

Believe it or not the bottoms are a series of scarves knotted together to create the illusion of a skirt!  I know! That why Alexis was onset because she’s able to see outside the box.  It’s important to be as creative as possible with your fashion because styling will really make your photos pop for boudoir.

Accessories:  We threw everything on her including the kitchen sink (Okay, what does that really mean anyway?).  Karla has such beautiful broad shoulders so she’s able to handle a lot of layering.  Her body was a blank canvas.  Sometimes too much color and texture is a good thing.

Her tattoo just added to the fun of the outfit.  A lot of girls believe that they need to cover up their tattoos for a boudoir session.  I’m here to tell you that’s simply not true.  Do not cover up your tattoo if you love it.  A tattoo is part of who you are so it’s important to let it be an important element in your session.

We also added the huge rock bracelets that you saw in Jenna’s set in Karla’s.

Hair & Makeup: Jill went with a hard press with Karla’s hair and styled at an asymmetrical angle.  Her makeup was a mix of wine and burgundy.  Jill made the center of the lips a deeper wine color which really made Karla’s eyes pop against the gold eyeliner.  I thought that was just so damn cool.  Makeup artist are so talented.

For Karla’s second look we just brought it back a bit without losing the element of color. Alexis chose a colorful and festive bib necklace paired with a sheer linen blouse.  We traded out the series of skirts for one huge floral scarf.

Jolesa

Jolesa just KILLED this shoot!  I have to say that this look was one of my favorites of the day.  Jolesa embodies a powerful version of sexy.  When she walks in the room there is an energy one simply cannot deny.  This outfit really helped bring that out.

Lingerie & Kimono: Everything here was found at Apricot Lane Dallas.  The white kimono really pops against Jolesa’s caramel complexion.  The orange lacing of the kimono helps highlight her warm undertones without it being too much.  While Jenna wore a nude lingerie set Jolesa is wearing white version.  Her bottoms are a fun take on scallop shorts that were really popular last summer.  The material is a comfortable that's perfect a boudoir set or for warm summer evenings watching the sunset.

Accessories:  The layering game is real y’all! Alexis followed the same layer technique she did with all the previous outfits.  She stacked the jewelry based on chain length. Silver really pops against darker skin so placing these beautiful pieces against Jolesa’s skin was a no brainer.  Unlike the other looks Alexis chose to have her rock one single bracelet instead of a stack.

Makeup & Hair:  Jolesa styled her own hair.  She’s rocking a badass Mohawk with gold tips.  This really works for her because she has a face that can carry a look like this.  It’s very important to have strong facial features if you are considering going for a pixie cut or Mohawk.

Lips were a stain wine color with an eye look to match.  The eyes were are a light wine and pink smokey eye.

Second Look

For Jolesa’s second look we kept the same makeup because is transitioned perfectly.  When picking out a makeup look it’s important to pick one that works with multiple looks or is an easy update without having to redo your entire face.  Most of time the makeup artist will do your lighter look first and then move you on to a more intense face.

Lingerie & Kimono:   I love the black and burgundy in this look because it sest a more moody tone for this session. While this is a very strong look the kimono balances a very light weight and feminine impact.  Deciding against wearing shoes makes Jolesa more approachable in her photos.

Accessories:  Alexis decided on an intense statement necklace for this outfit.  This works as a very hard piece of armor that adds to the African Goddess vibe she’s showering us with.

That’s it!

Don’t worry!  You guys will see more photos from each one of these women later this month.

I want to thank Jill for doing all the hair, Alexis for doing all the styling, Simply Bridal for the gorgeous gown, and Apricot Lane for all the beautiful clothes for this series!
